The Rev. Dr. Richard's Story
ONEONTA - Dick Knudson, born on June 4, 1930, died on Sept. 1, 2017.
He was the son of Norwegian immigrants and proudly traced his roots to the "Sloopers," the first Norwegian immigrants to the USA back in the early 1800s. He grew up in Maine where he had a teaching career before moving to Oneonta to continue teaching at SUNY Oneonta. He retired from teaching in 1991 and was ordained an Anglican priest in 2004.
He served as the vicar at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Schenevus.
Dick was a lifelong car enthusiast and was especially devoted to the MG sports car. He wrote more than 30 books and hundreds of articles about cars and other subjects that interested him.
He leaves a loving family and many friends he will be waiting to see later.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Knudson Churchill Scholarship Trust, 8 Woodston Lane, Palm Coast, FL 32164 or to the Church of the Holy Spirit, Arch Street, Schenevus, NY 12155.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 8, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Arch Street in Schenevus, followed by a reception at Oneonta Elks Lodge.
