Walter was united in marriage to the former Lorraine Beuke on Sept. 17, 1955, in Baldwin.
Walter was employed by the Nassau County Police Department as an officer before moving to Upstate New York. He then found employment as a postmaster for the United States Postal Service in the Town of Laurens.
