Warren's Story

NEW BERLIN - Warren Stuart Genung, 86, of Norwich, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Wilson Hospital on July 18, 2017.
Warren was born on June 17, 1931, in New Berlin, to Earl and Irene Genung.
He was predeceased by his wife Mona who passed away on Aug. 13, 2006. They had been married for 52 years.
Warren is survived by his children, Sande of Beckley, West Viriginia, Sherri Humphrey of Missouri, Shawn and Valerie of Mount Upton, and Scott and Terry, also of Mt. Upton; his grandchildren, Cameron, Tanner and Rileigh, Joanna, Joshua and Josiah.
Warren's childhood was spent in South Edmeston and New Berlin, culminating in graduation from New Berlin High School. Warren proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
After graduation from photography school, he was involved in photographing weddings along with his wife, Mona.
Warren was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and skeet and trap shooter. He was active for years in the Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, Iroquois Rod and Gun Club, and Rockdale Rod and Gun Club, passionately supporting the passing on of these sports to the younger generation through promoting the sending of kids to DEC camp. He was also instrumental in organizing the conservation exhibit at the Chenango County Fair for many years.
Before entering the Veterans Home at Oxford in October 2015, Warren was a member of the Berean Baptist Church of New Berlin.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 24, at the Berean Baptist Church, New Berlin, with Pastor Daniel Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. before the funeral service, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to the Chenango Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, P.O. Box 263, North Norwich, NY 13814, to help children attend DEC camp, which was one of Warren's passions.
