MORRIS - Werner M. F. Moennich, 80, of Morris, passed away within the warmth of his own home on Aug. 30, 2017.
Werner was born on Nov. 26, 1936, in Munster, Germany, to the late Heinz Bruno Wolfgang Mönnich and Luise Charlotta Pier. On July, 26 1969, Werner married his life companion, the former Doris Nelson, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville.
After settling in Morris in 1971, Werner and Doris worked hand-in-hand in the operation of their dairy farm that was known as Seefeld Farm. Being a farmer was not only a career and passion for Werner, but a way of life. It was a way of life that he wouldn't change if he had the choice again. As the years went on Werner became especially fond of the Belted Galloway variety of beef cattle and he began to breed them and show them at the local county fair. Werner Moennich was a member of the Belted Galloway Society, American Quarter Horse Association and past member of the New York and National Holstein Associations.
Werner is survived by his loving wife, Doris Moennich; a daughter, Kimberly (Christopher) Garrett; grandson, Marques Garrett; granddaughter, Nya Garrett; several nieces and nephews.
At Werner's request, funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
Memorial contributions in Werner's name may be made to Gilbertsville Fire Department, P.O. Box 72, Gilbertsville, NY 13776 or Gilbertsville Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 181, Gilbertsville, NY 13776.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.
