AFTON - Friends and family are invited to a memorial program honoring Bill's military service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, in Eastside Cemetery in Afton. The service will be conducted by the Sidney American Legion.
Those who knew Bill realized his passion for helping anyone in need with a helping hand, financial boost or a kind word.
Through the years he gave time and support to the Afton Fair, Afton Historical Society, Afton Community Theater, tax grievance board, Food Pantry, Cemetery Association and Hope Congregational Church.
Bill was also a member of the Sidney Moose Lodge and was caregiver and proprietor of Stafford Home for Adults in Afton for 10 years.
The highlight of his life was driving bus for the Afton Central School. He always had encouraging greetings for the wonderful young people who rode his bus for the past 17 years.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel Sidney.
