MARGARETVILLE - Anthony Onofrio Piacquadio, 92, of Margaretville, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at Mountainside Residential Care Center where he lived since March of 2020.

He was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Colle Sannita, Italy, the son of Francesco Piacquadio and Costanza Polcini.

Anthony married Maria Tedesco on June 16, 1952, in Italy.

Anthony worked in construction in New York City after immigrating from Italy in 1953. He and his wife moved to Margaretville in 1962. For a time, he was a farmer on West Hubbell Hill Road. He later developed some of the land and built 21 houses on Piacquadio Road.

Anthony is survived by three daughters, Antoinetta and her husband, Paul Currie Jr., Constance and her husband, John Mathiesen, and Lilly Piacquadio. Four grandchildren, Rachel, Eric, Anthony and Alex, also survive along with two sisters, Assunta Basile of Niagara Falls, Canada, and Teresina Pilla of Mahopac.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m., Aug, 25, at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville, at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 26. Burial will immediately follow in Margaretville Cemetery Annex.
