ONEONTA - "On behalf of Anya Bitterman's family it is with great sadness, we would like to announce the tragic passing of Dr. Anya Bitterman Nov. 21, 2024.

Anya practiced ophthalmology in Oneonta area since 2002. Over the years she took care of more than 11,000 patients helping to maintain and improve their vision. Anya performed multiple cataract and other surgeries and provided emergency services when needed. She's been named an honorary citizen of Oneonta for her service to the community.

Anya called Oneonta her home, loved her patients deeply and wanted nothing more than to be of service to those who needed her help.

We'll miss her dearly."

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main St. in Oneonta with the Rev. Ken Zulkosky officiating.
