Barbara A. Chambers Obituary

MORRIS - Barbara A. Chambers, 78, of Morris, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025 at Chestnut Park Nursing Home. Barbara was born on Nov. 27, 1946, in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Kalista) Stachina. In 1970, Barbara married the love of her life, Roy E. Chambers, at the U.S. Naval Station Chapel in Washington, D.C. Together, they had a devoted, long-lasting marriage until his passing in 2004.

Barbara was employed by Quorum Services as an office manager in Roanoke, Virginia. She was an avid sports fan, cheering for multiple college football teams, any basketball team, especially Syracuse. Barbara was a member of the Morris Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. To Barbara, everyone was family; she did not believe in the words "in-laws."

Barbara is survived by her son, Roy Chambers Jr. (Susan Hubbard, fiancée), of Endwell; daughter, Terra (Hundley) Chambers; sisters Carolyn Stachina of Albany, Nancy Roberts of Richmond, Virginia, Judy Garrett of Blanco, Colorado, Ann (Steve) Ford of Ashland, Virginia; brother, Marvin (Vickie) Chambers of Blude Ridge, Virginia; grandchildren Emily, Jeremy and Sean Hubbard; several nieces, nephews and cousins; Willow, her beloved cat and Dexter, her fur grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Chambers Sr.; stepdaughter, Colleen O'Connell; brothers John and Bernard Stachina.

Family and friends are invited to visitation 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home, 60 Broad St., Morris. Her funeral service will be celebrated at the Zion Episcopal Church, 158 E Main St., Morris at 2 p.m. with Mother Tracy officiating.

Her family would like to extend the deepest gratitude to her dear friends Gretchen Keister and Gary & Lois Fisher for all their assistance through the years. Also, a sincere thank you to the Morris Rescue Squad, the staff at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation Center and Hampshire House, along with the doctors and nursing staff of 2 North, A.O. Fox Hospital for all their care and devotion during the last few months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gary Jacobson Scholarship at Morris Central School. Checks made to Morris Central School with Jacobson Scholarship in memo line may be sent to Attn: Shannon Harrington, Morris Rec. Youth Sports, P.O. Box 281, Morris, NY 13808, or any local U.S. veterans organization.
