STAMFORD - Barbara Gilbert, 82, of Stamford, formerly of Hobart, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, May 23, 2021, at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford.

Born on Aug. 1, 1938, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Helen (Calhoun) Stowe.

She was a 1957 graduate of South Kortright Central School where she was a member of the Future Homemakers of America and chorus.

Barbara was married to Jesse B. Gilbert on June 28, 1959, at the United Methodist Church of Hobart, with Jesse predeceasing her in 2011.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, singing, and was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed cheering on the NY Yankees.

Barbara is survived by her only son, Marc Gilbert of Stamford, (his wife Michele); and only grandson Evan Gilbert.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, at the Delhi Community Church, 46378 NY State Highway 10, Delhi, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. lead by Rev. Derek Johnson.

Burial will immediately follow in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
