SIDNEY - Betty Howe Ackeret, 95, of Sidney, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, in Syracuse.

She was born Nov. 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Homer and Mildred (Teed) Howe in Bainbridge.

Betty married Gottleib Ackeret on Jan. 12, 1948. He predeceased her on March 17, 1990.

Betty was an inspector for the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney when she retired.

Family was important to Betty. She also loved animals, especially cats.

Betty is survived by her children, Kathleen E. Ackeret and Kenneth (Kathy) Ackeret; grandchildren, Betty (Bucky) Soule, Travis (Kim) Ives, John (Beckie) Ives, Tanya (Chris) Stewart, Jenny (John) Jouben, Jason (Hannah) Ackeret, Derrick Pierce, Roger (Julie) Pierce, and Kathrien Walker; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Vivian Peck.

Betty was also predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Ives; brothers, Ralph and Stuart Howe; and sister, Arlene Shaw.

In accordance with Betty's wishes, no services will be held.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
