Carl Steere  Myrus
SYRACUSE - Carl Steere Myrus, 83, died on Dec. 25, 2019.
He was predeceased by his parents, A.A. Myrus and Marjorie Steere; son, A.A. Myrus II of leukemia; and nephew, Michael M. Swain, 46, of pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Barry); grandsons, Zachary and Luke Nestor; son, W.W. Myrus (Ewa); granddaughter; two grandsons; sister, Molly M. Swain; three nephews; first wife, Shirley W. Myrus; second wife, Eduarda Bessers; and close cousin, J.W. Van Woert (Sandy) of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Carl earned an undergraduate degree from Yale and a master of architecture of historical preservation from the same school. While a senior, he was 'The (Class '57) pitchpipe' for the Whiffenpoofs.
He served in the United States Army.
He was a professor at Syracuse University for several years before he became a principle architect until he opened his own firm. Carl designed the Church of Christ Scientist at 61 Chestnut St. in Oneonta and renovated several Oneonta homes. He worked for Niagara Mohawk.
He sang with the DeWitt Community Church Choir for 37 years where his memorial services were held.
