GILBERTSVILLE - Catherine Agnes Barr, 71, of Gilbertsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Catherine was born on Aug. 28, 1951, in Scotland, a daughter of the late James and Jane (Jackson Stewart Hepburn) Barr.

Catherine married the love of her life, David Bogart, on May 13, 1982. He predeceased her on Sept. 19, 2015.

Catherine received her master's degree in journalism. For most of her life she was a self-employed journalist working alongside her husband in their business named Bogart & Barr. She was a born writer and for most of her life wrote books for children, teachers and schools. She had a passion for debating on a multitude of topics. She was a feisty woman who enjoyed reading, traveling the world, indulging in wine, and loving all kinds of dogs, especially her dog, Toby.

Catherine is survived by her brothers, Allan Barr and his wife and Steven Barr and his wife; niece, Olaya Barr; nephews, Adam, Alexander, Theo and Marcus Barr; several cousins; her friend and caregiver, Maureen Nolan-Lockwood; and numerous friends all over the world.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of her family.

Catherine's care has been entrusted to the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris.
