Charles C. Burnham Obituary
Mt. Upton, NY - MOUNT UPTON - Charles Burnham, 84, passed away on March 11, 2026. He was born in Norwich in 1941 to Lawrence and Frances (Constance) Burnham. He lived in the Mount Upton area most of his life, graduating from Mount Upton High School in 1959.
Charlie was proud of being a hard worker who provided for his family. He worked for several area businesses as a laborer, electrician, and maintenance mechanic, retiring from Norwich Schools in 2004.
The outdoors is where Charlie truly felt at home. Hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, mowing lawn and splitting wood for the woodstoves were his favorite pastimes. The Burnham camp in the Adirondacks held a special place in his heart. When traveling via Amtrak was no longer possible, he enjoyed day trips on the Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad. The volunteers who operate the railroad made every trip a joyful occasion.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; children by birth and marriage- Jerry and Fran, Wayne and Karen, Janet, Steve and Jennifer, Jaimie and Regi; as well as extended family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Wolf-Gould, Hampshire House, Albany Med and Delhi Rehab and Nursing for the kind and compassionate care they provided. Many thanks to the friends and neighbors who kept the house in working order when our Mr. Fix-It's days of fixing things were over.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Contributions in Charlie's memory may be made to Family Planning of South Central NY, 5 Cortland St. Norwich NY or to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
