RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Clara Marie Shypski, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon June 7, 2022, at Valley Health Services in Herkimer.

Clara was born on June 24, 1929, in Hackensack, New Jersey, daughter of the late Henry and Clara Buhbe Horl.

A lifelong Richfield Springs resident, she graduated from Richfield Springs High School with the Class of 1948.

On Dec. 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Nester J. Shypski in Columbia Center. They shared a devoted union of 56 years until his passing on Oct. 3, 2005.

For more than 20 years Mrs. Shypski was employed as a laboratory technician at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. She retired in 1987.

Clara was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs. She was also a member of Otsego-Hartwick-Arbutus chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Clara enjoyed time spent in her flower garden and also quilting.

Surviving her are three sons, Thomas Shypski and wife, Barbara, Richard Shypski and wife, Tina, and John Shypski, all of Richfield Springs; four grandchildren, Marilyn Shaw, Kayla Shypski, Michael Shypski and Jordan Shypski; one great-grandson, Benjamin Shaw; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, Nester, she was predeceased by her sister, Norma Harris.

At Mrs. Shypski's request her funeral and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
