ONEONTA - Clare Roman, 89, passed away peacefully July 15, 2024 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.

She was born April 27, 1935 in Broad Channel, the daughter of John and Frances (Thiesen) Geotke.

Clare married John R. Roman on Jan. 18, 1953 at St. Virgilius Catholic Church in Broad Channel. They made their home in Hillsdale, then lived in Edenton, N.C. for a while before moving to Oneonta.

Most important to Clare was her family. She was a kind, caring and loving woman to all. She loved family gatherings, animals, gardening and the ocean.

She is survived by her son, Robert and Doreen Roman; son-in-law, Ted Devlin; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, John on June 25, 2020; daughter, Laura Devlin; son, Johnny Roman and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. to the funeral services at noon on Tuesday, July 23, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Christopher Welch officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
