Clementine DeForest Obituary

Norwich - NORWICH - Clementine (Gracyalny) DeForest went home to her Lord on June 8, 2024.

She had lived for years in New Berlin, but for the past few years had been living with her son, John, in Norwich.

Clem was born May 19, 1931, in Bridgewater. She was a graduate of New Berlin Central School.

In 1953, she married Gerald S. DeForest Sr., who predeceased her in 1996.

She worked at Scintilla, in Sidney, Webb & Sons of New Berlin, Preferred Mutual Insurance Company and the Big M, also in New Berlin.

Clem is survived by her son-in-law, Carl Tiffany of Middleburgh, Florida; sons, Gerald Jr. and James of New Berlin; daughters, Sheila Bell of Unadilla and Tina (Alan) Aikman of Dauphin, Pennsylvania; and sons, Carl of Brunswick, Ohio, and John (Lynn) of Norwich; as well as her seven sisters. She dearly loved her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Clem was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Carol Tiffany; as well as infant children, Christine and Johnny.

Clem loved to knit and crochet and sold her crafts at various craft shows. She was well-known for her knitted baby sweaters, sending many to different states and even overseas. She volunteered at the Country Store at the Otsego County Fair for many years.

She loved her family, animals, gardening, polka music, cake decorating and square dancing.

Calling hours for Clementine will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Dakin Funeral Home, 17 N. Main St., New Berlin. Her service will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 24 N. Main St., New Berlin.

A reception will follow the committal at New Berlin Fire Station at 75 S. Main St., New Berlin.
