Waterford, NY - WATERFORD - Daniel L. Davis, 65, passed away on July 10, 2026, at his home.

Born in Oneonta, he was the son of Alvin Davis and Shirley Strong Raney.

Daniel served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1981 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a truck driver for many years, working for Lindenmyer Munroe in Albany.

The one thing he enjoyed most was looking forward to camping with his family every year in Old Forge area, especially Nick's Lake. From trips to get firewood, which meant trips to Tony Harpers, always stopping to visit the Screaming Eagle to play Quick-Draw, and then off to Fast Track for a scratch-off ticket to scratch around the fire back at the campsite. We will all miss his laugh that could be heard all around the campground. Dan also loved his New York Yankees, Giants, and Rangers.

Daniel is survived by his mother, Shirley; longtime companion, Victoria Pelcher; siblings, Keith (Michele) Davis, Donna (Orlando) Rios, and David (Stephanie) Raney; nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn Davis, Kaleigh Davis, Logan Rios, Samantha Raney, and Olivia Raney; aunt, Sandy Hoffman; cousin, Christina (Scott) Herman, along with several other cousins. He also is survived by his feline companion Willie, named after singer Willie Nelson.
