David Alan Carvin Obituary

Oneonta, New York - ONEONTA - David Alan Carvin, 73, of Oneonta passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 5, 1952 in Oneonta, the son of the late Royce and Phyllis (Baker) Carvin.

David proudly served his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps after high school. He served during the Vietnam War and beyond, receiving an honorable discharge after 10 years.

For several years, David worked in manufacturing, lastly at Corning, Inc. in Oneonta.

A jack of all trades, David liked to stay busy and never let the grass grow beneath his feet. He was kind hearted and cared for others, especially the kids, more than himself. He gave of himself even when it meant that he would go without, but his sense of humor is what he will be remembered for most.

David is survived by his two children, Thomas David (Stephanie) Carvin and Annika (Chris) Demopoulos; four grandchildren, Shane and Bryn Carvin and Kelsie Wheeler and Aurora Demopoulos; two brothers, Douglas (Mikki) Carvin and Michael (Brian) Carvin Moore; special niece, Teri (Nelson) Wells and their children, Kristen (Daniel) Marino and Gerald Wells; as well as many other nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by three brothers, Royce, Wayne and William Carvin.

A service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 21 at the Oneonta American Legion, 296 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, followed by a celebration of life until 7 p.m.
