ONEONTA - Doris M. Shutters, 91, passed away Dec. 12, 2024 at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.

She was born July 5, 1933 in Oneonta, the daughter of Orval and Marjorie (Calhourn) Davis.

Doris married Ronald Shutters in July of 1951. He predeceased her on March 31, 2021.

She worked for the Oneonta Dress Company for more than 40 years and retired from Sanyo.

Doris enjoyed gardening, flowers, and crocheting. She loved her pets and watching and feeding the birds. She was an amazing baker, never running out of sweets. She and Ron always looked forward to camping and having fun with the grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Amanda and Clifford Herring, Wayne Shutters, Cindy and Tom Anderson and Douglas Shutters; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and brother, Alvin Davis.

She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Barbara Anne, and siblings, Wesley Davis, Blaine Davis and Betty Cornish.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

A graveside service for Ron and Doris will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery at a later date.
