Dorothy Roy Dyer

SOUTH KORTRIGHT - Dorothy Roy Dyer, 93, of South Kortright, died Nov. 29, 2020, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Dorothy (known as Dottie to her friends) was born on Oct. 26, 1927, to Cornelia and Walter Robertson in Meridian.
She grew up in Bloomville, and graduated from South Kortright Central School. She went on to attend and graduate from Fannie Farmer School of Cooking in Boston. She was well-known for her incredible baked goods!
Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband, Waldo H. Roy, a World War II veteran who had a successful career as a New York State BCI senior Investigator. They met while working at the Mountain View luxury hotel in Whitefield, New Hampshire, and were married on Feb. 21, 1947. Waldo died unexpectedly at an early age on March 19, 1977. Dorothy was remarried to William Dyer, a decorated war hero. She was predeceased by Mr. Dyer on July 27, 1999.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Dorothy Roy Kemper, Robert H. Roy, Christine H. Roy and Patricia Roy Bleimeyer. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Janine Matta and Theodore Adamski of Plano, Texas, and Robert Roy and Steven Roy of West Chazy. She had eight great-grandchildren, Brandon and Lira Adamski, and Nicholas and Natalie Matta, Ivan and Patrick Roy, and Olivia and Sophia Roy. Dorothy is also survived by siblings, Walter Robertson of Norwich and Jean Monroe of Princess Ann, Maryland.
She was predeceased by her brother, George Robertson of Bloomville.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
