South New Berlin, NY - SOUTH NEW BERLIN - Douglas W. Schmidt, age 83, of South New Berlin, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025. Born in Queens, on Nov. 20, 1941, he was the son of the late Walter Schmidt and Ruth Sieber.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Doug went on to have a distinguished career as vice president in the stock industry in New York City. Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed woodworking, watching the NY Yankees, and cheering for the NY Giants. Doug was known for his quiet strength, dedication to his family, and love of the simple joys in life.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Jason) Minotti; sister, Penny (Jim) Kitko; two beloved grandchildren, Tyler and Terryn; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Obermeyer; and brother, Craig Schmidt.
Doug's family and friends will remember him as a loving father, grandfather, and friend—someone whose presence will be deeply missed.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
