Westford, NY - WESTFORD - Edith C. Marullo, 97, passed away peacefully at A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta Feb. 4, 2026. She was born April 5, 1928, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Hunter and Mabel (Carlson) Smith.
Edith graduated from Malvern High School. While living in Lynbrook, she was an active member of the VFW, where she met her husband, Charles Salvatore Marullo. They were married for 49 years until his passing on Nov. 12, 2007.
In 1972, Charles and Edith moved their family to Westford. She worked for the New York State Department of Employment in Oneonta for 37 years, helping hundreds of people find meaningful work and improve their lives. She was deeply passionate about her work and continued to receive cards and notes of gratitude well into her retirement, reflecting the lasting impact she had on others.
Edie was an avid Scrabble, card and bingo player, and in retirement she and Charles enjoyed traveling to antique car shows. Family was always the most important part of her life. She was known for her kindness, quiet strength, and generous heart, and she gave her love freely to those around her. She was loved by many, especially her family, and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her five children, Nancy and Ike Norton, Charles Marullo, Joseph and Millie Marullo, Tracey and David Ranieri, and Kristen and David Shearer; grandchildren, Melanie, Tony, Justin, Jeanmarie, George, Connor, and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tyler, Isabella, Olivia, Jonathan, Stevie, and Max; and many nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her sister, Doris Lennox, and her brother, Edwin Smith.
Our family extends our deepest gratitude to the nurses and aides at A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home, Unit 2, for the exceptional care, compassion, dignity, and love they showed our mother every day. Their kindness, patience, and dedication brought comfort to her in her final days and peace to our family. We will forever be grateful for the respect and tenderness with which they cared for her.
Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched. She is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at The Westford Cemetery.
