SOUTH KORTRIGHT - Edward A. Slavinski, 82, formerly of South Kortright, died Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, surrounded by his loving family.

Ed was born in Bloomville, on Jan. 29, 1938, the son of the late Sigmund and Sophie (Doroski) Slavinski.

He married Gloria Firment of Delhi, on Aug. 29, 1959.

Ed was retired from the Allen Residential Center for Boys in South Kortright, where he worked for 32 years.

He was a true outdoorsman. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping, bowling, playing pinochle and, in his retirement years, enjoyed shuffleboard.

About 20 years ago Ed and Gloria moved to Oneonta and spent winters in Arcadia and Largo, Florida.

Besides his beloved wife Gloria, Ed is survived by four sons, Peter (Betty) of Delhi, Mark of Albany, John of Delhi and Thomas of Stamford; a brother, Paul (Anna) Slavinski of Howes Cave; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Douglas) Crandall of Tonawanda; brother-in-law, Thomas (Yolanda) Firment of Largo, Florida; three grandchildren, Kerri Ann (Kevin) Reinhart of Hapersfield, Richard (Autumn) Slavinski of Delhi and Colleen Slavinski of Albany; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; three nieces; four nephews; and several cousins.

Ed was predeceased by two daughters-in-law, Linda and Margaret; brother-in-law, Ronald Firment; sister-in-law, Mary Firment; and a nephew, Daniel.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, at MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Delhi. A Mass will be celebrated at noon, Wednesday, July 15, at St. Peter's Church, Cross Street, Delhi, with the Rev. Edward Golding, celebrant. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville.
