RICHFIELD SPRINGS - George Michael Ehrmann, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Cooperstown Center, Cooperstown.

He was born on July 14, 1932, in Richfield Springs, a son of the late Raymondl and Margurite (Hayes) Ehrmann.

Raised and educated in Richfield Springs, George played football, baseball and tennis besides excelling academically. Upon his graduating from High School he furthered his education at the Albany College of Pharmacy. It was there that he met and married the love of life Joyce LaVassaur. Married in Tupper Lake on June 5, 1954, they shared a devoted union of nearly 60 years until her passing on June 2, 2015.

For more than 50 years George worked as a pharmacist. After 35 years in Richfield Springs working with his father, he then worked in Delhi and later at Little Falls Hospital Pharmacy for 20 years before retiring.

George was also active in the community, as a father of two boys, he volunteered as a coach and Cub Scout leader, as well as an active member of the Richfield Springs Rotary Club for many years. In his leisure time he enjoyed skiing and was a member of the National Ski Patrol. He was also a member of the Cooperstown Community Band.

He will be forever remembered as a kind person with a tremendous sense of humor with a gentleman's charm. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Surviving are his son, Eric and his wife, Tamra of Richfield Springs; five grandchildren, Christopher, Katie, Julie, Sarah and James and their mother, Pamela Ehrmann.

Besides his parents and wife, Joyce, he was predeceased by a son, Gregory; as well as his siblings.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 12, at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs, His funeral service and interment will be private, at the convenience of the family.
