Gerald R. Marmet (Jerry) Obituary

GOODYEAR LAKE - Gerald R. Marmet, 71, of Goodyear Lake and formerly of Oneonta passed away Oct. 5, 2024, at home with his wife of 51 years by his side.

Jerry was born April 7, 1953 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of Walt Marmet and Roseann (Ward) Marmet. He graduated from Oneonta High School in the Class of 1972 and had a successful career as an electrician at Amphenol in Sidney for 37 years until his retirement in 2015.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and time spent with friends at the cabin in Wells Bridge. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family near and far. He especially loved playing with his granddaughter and making her laugh. Jerry displayed a jovial and lovingly mischievous spirit for life and always seemed to have family and friends laughing. He also prided himself on helping people with every type of home repair, as he had a true knack for fixing and building anything. Jerry touched many lives through years of coaching his children's sport teams and fondly cheering from the sidelines. He had a huge heart you could immediately feel through the loving twinkle in his eyes. He will be greatly missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Suellen Marmet, daughter, Jenna Marmet and spouse, David Kolesky and loving granddaughter, Everest (Evie); sister, Debbie Marmet of Oneonta; brother, Mike Marmet (Diane) of Laurens; sister-in-law, Tina Crawford (Don) of Laurens; two brothers-in-law, Ernie Parsons (Cheryl) of Ventura, California and Tim Parsons (Liz) of Cooperstown, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his son, Shane R. Marmet, beloved grandmother, Nellie Ward; parents, Roseann (Ward) Marmet and Walt Marmet; two brothers, Tim Marmet and Craig Marmet; and brother-in- law, Steve Parsons (Linda) of Quakertown Pennsylvania.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to "The Shane R. Marmet Dollars for Scholars Scholarship", P.O. Box 1083, Oneonta, NY 13820

Arrangements are with Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
