NORTH HARPERSFIELD - Gloria J. Gomez, 88, formerly of Garnerville and Stony Point, passed away on Jan. 14, 2020, following a short illness.

She was born on April 24, 1931, in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Raimundo and Segunda (Gainza) Altonaga.

She married Angel P. Gomez in 1956. She was a housewife for many years but later worked in retail, most notably Woolworth's, C. H. Martin's and Genovese Drugs. She also worked beside her husband for several years when Angel owned the former Haverstraw (Harry's) Coffee Shop in Haverstraw.

Gloria is survived by her children, Louisa (Frank) Grossi of Cranford, New Jersey, Gloria (Gary) Anderson of North Harpersfield, Angel (Nanette) Gomez of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Amanda (Greg) Marshall, Laura and Christina Grossi, Raymond (Cayde Laskowski) Anderson and Mia (Joseph Anady) Gomez and Olivia Gomez; great-grandchildren, Kamden, Braden, Logan, Charlotte and Joseph Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Angelo (Delores) Altonaga; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family thanks the staff of A. O. Fox Nursing Home for making Gloria's last days filled with love, care and comfort.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Tuesday, Jan. 21, at MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford.

A Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Church, 27 Harper St., Stamford, with the Rev. Michael Cambi celebrating.
