Gordon Whitten Obituary

Rock Hill, SC - ROCK HILL, S.C. - Gordon L. Whitten, formerly from Delhi, and West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away quietly July 20, 2025 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

The son of Howard and Grace Whitten of New Berlin, Gordon graduated from New Berlin Central School, SUNY Delhi and Utica College of Syracuse University.

Gordon served during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of sergeant. He married Phyllis Ann Bennett in Sherburne June 22, 1957. Gordon was employed for 28 years as the director of physical plant at SUNY Delhi retiring in 1993. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Ned and Dean. His wife Phyllis passed in 2009.

Gordon is survived by his children, Craig Whitten (Diane) and Lisa Osborn (Paul); as well as four grandchildren, Justine, Jennifer, Kristen and Sean. Additionally, he is survived by seven great-grandchildren. Gordon's longtime companion, Janet Benson Castaldy also survives him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, 2376 India Hook Road, Rock Hill SC 29732. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
