ONEONTA - Harry J. Goodspeed, 78, of Oneonta, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022.

Harry was born on Aug 23, 1944, in Oneonta, a son of the late Leroy and Rose (Decker) Goodspeed.

On April 20, 1984, Harry married Dorothy Sizemore. Together, they had a wonderful marriage until her passing on April 9, 2013.

After graduating high school, Harry proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country from 1963 to 1969.

Harry was employed by the Bic Corporation in Milford, Connecticut, as a machinist for most of his life.

Harry was also a talented carpenter who enjoyed building anything with his hands.

He enjoyed collecting all things of Elvis, John Wayne and Indian memorabilia.

Above all else, Harry loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and cats, Barney, Barney II and Smokey.

Harry is survived by his children, Richard (Tammy) Goodspeed, Brian (Tami) Goodspeed and Debbie Hall; grandchildren, Devin, Elissa, Brett, Kadin and Jaylee; brothers, Doug Goodspeed and Bobby (Ann) Goodspeed; sister, Arlene Oakley; and several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Harry was also predeceased by his many brothers and sisters.

A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17, in Plains Cemetery, Oneida Street, Oneonta.

Harry's family has entrusted his care to the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris.
