STAMFORD - Helen L. Havrish, 87, of Stamford, formerly of Jefferson, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 22, 2022, at Fox Hospital Nursing Home in Oneonta.

Born on Jan. 18, 1935, in Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Edith (Smith) Whispell.

She was married to Frank Havrish on Oct. 15, 1955, who passed away in 1973.

Helen had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds. She also enjoyed playing bingo. However, her greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed family gatherings.

Besides her parents and her husband, Helen was predeceased by two sons, Frank Havrish Jr. and Robert Havrish; along with her companion, Andrew Havrish.

Helen is survived by her children, JoAnne (Sam) Smith of Sidney Center, William (Cheri) Havrish of Missouri. George (Bonnie) Havrish of Oneonta, Mary Ann Kitson of Hartwick, Suzanne (Mark) Johnson of Florida, Richard (Sandra) Havrish of Davenport and Joyce Ormsbee of Harpersfield; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services at 12:30 p.m., Friday, July 1, in Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson, will be followed by a celebration of life at Richard and Sandra's home in Davenport.
