STAMFORD - Helen Vance, a resident of Stamford since 1987, passed away on Jan. 16, 2021, at Robinson Terrace.
Helen was born in the Town of Champlain, on May 8, 1921, the daughter of Walton and Ella (Hastings) Fletcher.
Helen was a 1939 graduate of Rouses Point High School.
She was married to Maynard Vance in 1941.
Her life focused on raising her five children although she worked for the D&H Railroad during World War II and Chauvin Insurance Agency after her children were grown.
Helen attended the First Presbyterian Church in Rouses Point and took care of her parents in their later years.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Elaine Yakey (Brian) of Durham, Connecticut; three sons, Gary (Mari) of East Windsor, New Jersey, Walton (Deborah Eddins) of Dallas, Texas and Maynard (Elly) of Hobart; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Maynard, in 1984; son, Earle, in 2004; and grandson, Kenny Vance, in 2017.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Maple Hill Cemetery, Rouses Point.
