CANANDAIGUA - Helene (Meester) Abbink, 99, passed away on October 26, 2016, after a long and fruitful life, going Home to be with the Lord Whom she loved and served. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Formerly of Hawthorne, N.J., Helene and her loving husband of 53 years moved to Bainbridge after retirement. Later in life she moved to Canandaigua. Where ever she resided, she was always near family, which gave her much joy.

Helene enjoyed homemaking, raising a family, and then welcoming 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren into her life. She brought fashion and lady-like poise into all she did, but her primary beauty was her sweet and giving spirit. She faithfully and willingly supported her husband in all his church, missionary, and business endeavors, but also provided a warm and happy environment for her family. She has provided wonderful and heart-warming memories for all of us.

She was predeceased by her husband Henry (1992), oldest daughter Joanne Ashworth (1992), and daughter-in-law Nancy Abbink (2013).

Helene is survived by her son Henry and his wife Lori; daughter Dianne Everett and her husband Bob; son-in-law Roger Ashworth and his wife Dawn; and her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family was blessed to have such a loving and Christian role model for so many years. We will cherish the heritage of both Mom/Grandma and Dad/Grandpa.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Afton Baptist Church, 30 Caswell St., Afton, NY. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at the church.
