GILBERTSVILLE - On July 12, 2022, our beloved husband and father, James Carr, was granted peace with our Lord.

He was born on Sept. 11, 1941, and lovingly raised by Marguerite (Ruggles) and Sheldon Carr on the family farm "Sunnyslope" in Gilbertsville.

On March 21, 1964, he married his soulmate Donna Reller at the Gilbertsville Presbyterian Church and was blessed to be married for 58 years.

Jim spent all 80 years of his life in Gilbertsville. He was a member, elder and choir member of the Gilbertsville Presbyterian Church and member of the Gilbertsville American Legion. He was known by many for his smile and sense of humor, being an outdoor sportsman, and lover of singing.

Following high school Jim proudly served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1967.

He was employed as the maintenance superintendent at Una-Lam in Sidney until his retirement.

Following his retirement, he found enjoyment in golf, travel and took an unexpected genealogical adventure of which we are all grateful.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Kellie Carr and wife, Susan Kluenenberg and Kimberly Carr; grandson, Jackson; son in-law, Paul Valdez; brothers in-law, James (Brenda) Jackson and Douglas (Cyndi) Jackson; sisters, Victoria (Tom) Dean, Vivian Griffin, Mary Griffin and Debbie (Jack) Clark; brother, Richard (Esther) Griffin; sister-in-law, Gayle Griffin; stepfather, Don Osborn; special nephews, Robert (Susan), David (Valerie), Peter (Susan), and Steven Ketchum; as well as several nieces and nephews who he adored.

He was greeted in heaven by his parents; sister and brother in-law ,Shirley and Robert Ketchum; brother and sister in-law, Gordon and Betty Goodspeed; mother and father in-law, Robert and Dorothy Jackson; sisters, Dorothy, Pat and Gloria; and brothers, Ed and Leo. What a welcome that must have been!

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville at 11 a.m., Friday, July 29, with Pastor Kurt Funke officiating. Military honors will follow at the conclusion of the service. Following the services at the church, a luncheon will be held at the church where guests may visit with the family. His burial will be held privately and at the convenience of his family in Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville.

The family gives special thanks to the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad for the assistance and care given to Jim.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad and the First Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville.

His family has entrusted his care to the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris.
