SUMMIT - James S. Mickle, 67, of Lutheranville Road, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at his home.

James was born Sept. 14, 1949, in Cobleskill, a son of Reuben and Catherine (Tilison) Mickle.

After his education, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country as a rifleman in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, Jim returned to his native Schoharie County. He recently retired from Schoharie County DPW and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, playing cards, mowing his lawn; but especially loved his family and spending time together.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra "Sue" (Shafer) Mickle, to whom he was married Sept. 26, 1981; his children, Alan (April) Sperbeck of Richmondville, Michael (Jamie) Sperbeck of East Worcester, Angela (DJ) Sperbeck of Richmondville and April (Chris) Becker of Summit; six grandchildren, Brittany, Caroline, Taylor, Alan, Michael and Derick; his siblings, Marlene (Boyce) Lawyer of Middleburgh, Charles Mickle of Wyoming, Larry (Judy) Mickle of Middleburgh, Reuben (Sandy) Mickle of Schoharie, Howard Mickle of Schenectady, Rosemary (Art) Cummings of Tennessee and Eddie Mickle of California. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Arley, Dolores, George and Ted.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 108 Chapel St., Cobleskill where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 18. Interment will be later with military honors in Summit Cemetery.
