DAVENPORT CENTER - Janet Dyer Cody passed peacefully on Feb. 25, 2020, with her family by her side, following a five year decline due to progressive supranuclear palsy, a rare parkinsonian syndrome.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1944, at Stamford Hospital, the fifth of six children born to Nayham (Mike) Dyer and Almareta Boyes.
She graduated from Charlotte Valley Central School in 1963.
Over the years, she worked as a dental assistant, nursery worker at Amadon Greenhouses and catering manager at Hartwick College. She also served on the Board of Education for CVCS.
On Sept. 4, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, William J. "Bill" Cody. They raised their three daughters in Davenport Center in the same house where Bill grew up.
She is survived by her daughters, Jill Doroski and husband, Bob, Stephanie Cody and husband, Darrin Nesbitt and Jennifer Calhoun; grandchildren, Clint Lutz, Cali Lutz, Jenna Lutz, Nick Lutz, Cecilia Calhoun and McCormick Calhoun; sisters, Gail Christensen, Judy Sanford, Karen Dyer; and brother, Bob (Robin) Dyer; sister-in-law, Ginny (Les) Sanford; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nayham (Mike) and Reta (Boyes) Dyer, in-laws, Joseph and Doris (Shaver) Cody; husband, Bill; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Sonny Wright, brothers-in-law; Ray Christensen and Dick Sanford; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Margie (Hebbard) Cody.
Special thanks to neighbor and niece, Shannon Christensen, as well as mom's caretakers, Marge Mickel, Wendy Stevens and Helen Beers, for all of their care and support. We wouldn't have been able to keep mom at home without you.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at MacArthur Funeral home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at Davenport Firehouse.
