MIDDLEFIELD - Joan Marie Augur, 82, of Cooperstown Center, formerly of Middlefield, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 16, 2024. Born Oct. 9, 1941 in West Haven, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Lillian (Ryder) Roly. Joan was raised and educated in Connecticut prior to moving her family to Middlefield in 1971. Joan worked many years at The Meadows as a dietary aid and enjoyed her time as a bus monitor for Cooperstown Central School. She volunteered many years with Middlefield and Cherry Valley's Women's Auxiliary.
Joan is survived by her children, son, Charles Augur (Patricia) of Springfield Center and their children Rebecca (Benjamin), Matt (Krista), and Benjamin; son, Raymond Jr. of Middlefield and his daughter, Amanda-Lynn; daughter, Linda Ellex (Michael) of Crossville, Tennessee, and their children, Ashley (Lance), Courtenay, Cody and Jenna; and daughter, Donna Mateunas (James) of Middlefield and their children, Aaron and Andrea (Kyle). Joan also has eight great-grandchildren: Logan, Tanner, Zaine, Jace, CJ, Jade, Gracie, and Bella.
Joan was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Ann, husband, Raymond Augur Sr., and brother, Russell Roly Sr.
Joan will always be remembered for spending time with her family, her cat (Tiger), her feisty personality, and enjoying time with her friends playing dominoes, bingo, and much more. Joan's memories will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the medical staff at Bassett Hospital and Cooperstown Center for their compassion, prayers and care for our mother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at Ottman Funeral Home, 22 Church Street, Cherry Valley. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Roseboom United Methodist Church, 3229 NY-166, Roseboom, with the Rev. Ronald Fralick officiating. Burial to follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery.
