Roseboom, New York - ROSEBOOM - Joanne Brodie went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2026, surrounded by family. She passed peacefully following a sudden illness.

She was born in Sidney, on May 18, 1953 to the late Drayton and Virginia (Hoke) Thompson. She is also predeceased by her brother, Phillip Thompson and stepdaughter Brandy Brodie.

Joanne married the love of her life, Charley Brodie, on June 8, 2013 at Gilbert Lake State Park. She loved spending time with Charley and she also enjoyed camping, swimming, and NASCAR. Her favorite drivers were Jeff Gordon and William Byron and Charley and Joanne attended around 25 NASCAR races. She loved her kitties and all animals. She enjoyed her retirement years and loved to travel, especially walking on the boardwalk at Virginia Beach. She retired after working at Bassett Hospital for 38 years. Joanne will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of family and animals, and she will be missed.

Joanne is survived by Charley and his children, Jeremy (and Malinda) Brodie, Adam (and Susan) Brodie, Rachel (and Johnathan) Harvey, Jaime (and David) Cool and Tony Brodie; and grandchildren, Jerred, Karis, Jaidon, Cayden, Lexi, Gabriel, Draeson, Alexander, Emma Zoey and Caladin. She is also survived by many cousins, sharing close bonds with several.

Viewing hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 2 at Ottman Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Cherry Valley, NY 13320. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 3 at First Baptist Church of Schenevus, 15 Monitor St., Schenevus, NY 12155, with burial to follow at South Valley/Pleasant Brook Cemetery.
