PITTSFIELD - John J. "Jack" Reed, 84, of Pittsfield, passed away on May 2, 2022, at his home.
Jack was born on March 30, 1938, in New Berlin, the son of Andy and Roberta (Tucker) Reed.
His childhood was spent in the New Berlin area where he attended New Berlin Central School.
He was employed as the highway superintendent for the town of Pittsfield, and at Seward Sand & Gravel Inc. of Oneonta.
Jack enjoyed his bowling league, skating and hunting and served in the Pittsfield Fire Department for 40 years.
On July 30, 1961, he married Anna Morin at the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin. She survives him.
In addition to his wife, Anna, Jack is survived by his children, Jacqueline Savory of Pittsfield, Robin Reed of Port Charlotte, Florida, Kristi Reed of New Berlin and John Reed Jr. of Albany; as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Tom Reed of Pittsfield and sister, Roberta Button of Herkimer.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with Pastor Judy McCall officiating. Calling hours will be held from noon until 2 p.m. before the service.
