EDMESTON - Karen Lynn Bressett, 61, of Edmeston passed away peacefully Thursday March 20, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Karen was born March 26, 1963 in Utica, the daughter of Richard and Nancy (Rose) Schoonover.

She is survived by her husband, Fabian "Bud" J. Bressett IV of Edmeston; daughters, Kendra (Matthew) Wetzel of Glenville, Paige Bressett (Matthew Maurer) of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Kelsey Bressett (Hunter Wheeler) of Schenectady; grandson, Spencer Wetzel; father, Richard Schoonover of Burlington Flats; brothers, Mark (Barbie) Schoonover of Norwich and Michael (Suzanne) Schoonover of Edmeston; sister, Kathleen (Dennis) Schoonover-Prillaman of Newport News, Virginia; mother-in-law, Carol Bressett of Cherry Valley; sisters-in-law, Amy Bressett of Cherry Valley and Lisa (John) Drake of Latham. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Nancy Schoonover, and father-in-law, Fabian J. Bressett III.

Karen was a lifetime resident of the Burlington Flats/Edmeston area. She grew up in a strongly rooted racing family and graduated from Edmeston Central School. Shortly after graduation, she began her 44 year dedicated career at NYCM Insurance. She was always an adventurous spirit, up for anything from hiking, boating, snowmobiling, zip-lining and everything in between. Karen loved to dance and having a good time. She also enjoyed the quiet moments by a bonfire, gardening or cuddled up with a good book and her family pets. One of her greatest accomplishments included being a loving wife, mother of three girls, nana and friend.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 29 at the Yankee Barn Plantation, 948 County Highway 20 in Edmeston. Family and friends may visit from 1 to 4 p.m. with services to follow.
