Wells Bridge, NY - WELLS BRIDGE - Kathryn Dawn Saggese Carey-Genzardi, 77, of Wells Bridge, passed away on July 13, 2026. Kathryn was born on Jan. 21, 1949, in Oneonta, to Ralph and Elinor (Pratt) Saggese.

Kathryn loved to talk, smile, and laugh. She truly made people feel cared about.

Kathryn was extremely fortunate to grow up in the Belmont Circle community of Oneonta, with her siblings, Carol and Art. She made wonderful memories with childhood friends ice-skating in Wright's backyard, playing baseball on her parents' side lawn, and riding bikes around the circle. Lots of good times were had with her neighbor Sandy Sapienza, a friendship that lasted a lifetime, along with many fond memories and many friends from Bugbee School. After high school, Kathryn graduated from Mildred Elly Secretarial School in Albany.

Kathryn loved being a stay-at-home mom. She was the mother who volunteered to help in their classrooms, baked homemade dark chocolate cupcakes with homemade frosting, was a Girl Scout Leader, among many other volunteer opportunities.

In the 1980's Kathryn became a passionate aerobics instructor at the Oneonta YMCA which allowed her to create dance routines to the 80's music she loved. She would later teach yoga at the YMCA. Kathy then went to work at the Oneonta Post Office as a window clerk where she remained until retirement. Post office customers looked forward to getting in her line to receive excellent service with a smile.

During Kathryn's retirement she played cards, pickleball, and enjoyed different activities at The Gathering Place in Oneonta.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Eugene Genzardi; children, Brian Carey, Amy (Troy) Bookhout, and Becky Carey; treasured grandchildren, Tyler (Mariah) Carey, Konnor (Celia) Bookhout, Kolby Bookhout, Nate Carey, and Jack Carey. She was GiGi to Katya and Nikolai Carey. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Kevin) Saggese; former daughter-in-law, Joyce Carey; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Caring friends Avis Dalton and Tracey Smith, were close to Kathryn the last few years, going for walks and out for food.
