Kenneth W.  VerValin
UNADILLA - Kenneth William VerValin, 91, of Unadilla, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1923, in Oneonta, to the late Arthur and Mary (Larkin) VerValin.
Ken attended Unadilla Central School.
He was a Navy veteran. He enlisted at the age of 17.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a member of the Sidney Elks Lodge and a founding father of the Unadilla Rod and Gun Club.
Ken worked for Overhead Doors for 28 years before going into business on his own until his retirement in 2016.
He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 70 years, Jayne (Grow) VerValin; brothers, Arthur, Morris and Gerald; as well as his sisters, Eleanor and Dorothy.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jeanette Crandall of Afton and his nephew, Patrick VerValin, with whom he spent a lot of enjoyable time; and several nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Ken enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and spending many hours at the Rod and Gun Club with his friends.
Ken was always there to lend a helping hand and developed many lasting friendships over the years. His kind and gentle nature will long be remembered by family and friends.
Friends are invited to a celebration of life at Unadilla Rod and Gun Club from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.
In lieu of flowers, donate to one's favorite charity.
A private burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery at a later date.
