Morris - MORRIS - Larry Irvin Turner, 72, a longtime resident of Morris, went to his heavenly father on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023.
He was born on July 28, 1951, in Aiken, South Carolina. Larry was the youngest of three children to Raymond and Frances (Kneece) Turner.
On Aug. 24, 1985, he married Diane Elizabeth (Meyers) Turner at Holy Cross Church in Morris. They shared a blessed union for 38 years until his passing.
Larry had many jobs throughout his life and sometimes worked at many as three at the same time. Most recently he retired from NBT Bank in Norwich. Before that, he worked 18 years at Frontier Communications in Sherburne until a restructuring. From the mid-1980s to the late-1990s, Larry served as branch manager at Wilber National Bank in Morris.
He regularly attended Holy Cross Church and was also a member of Hulon Baptist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. In his community, Larry served as treasurer of the Morris Historical Society for a number of years and was a member of the Freemasons in South Carolina.
Larry loved spending time with family, and especially cherished the time spent with his three grandchildren - Merrick, Maxson and Sophie. His highest priority was family, and his unceasing love, help and support was immeasurable. Larry will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to drop whatever he was doing to help a person in need.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Turner; children, Michael (Christen) Turner, Andrew Turner, Chad (Julia) Turner and Jenna Turner; grandchildren, Merrick, Maxon and Sophie Turner; sister, Edith (Larry) Rohr; brother, James (Steve) Turner; stepsister, Natalie Woodman; mother-in-law, Lucille Meyers; brother/sister-in-law, Robert (Linda) Meyers, Richard (Nancy) Meyers, John (Teresa) Meyers, Elaine (Daniel) Robinson, Beth Gonzalez, Daniel (Bonnie) Meyers, Andrew (Sandra) Meyers, Thomas (Kelly) Meyers and Jeffrey Meyers; along with several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his infant son, Mark Anthony Turner; father, Raymond Turner; mother, Frances (Kneece) Woodman; stepfather, George Woodman; father-in-law, Robert Meyers; and brother/sister-in-law, Jennifer (Kelly) Collier.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris. His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Holy Cross Church in Morris. Burial and his service of committal will follow in Hillington Cemetery in Morris.
Donations in memory of Larry may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Morris Fire Department and Emergency Squad.
Larry's family has entrusted his care to the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris.
