FLEISCHMANNS - Lawrence J. Davis, 77, passed away Sept. 7, 2023, in Margaretville, following a short battle of cancer.

Larry, better known as Squirrel, was born in Margaretville on Nov. 26, 1945,the son of Bessie B. Davis (Shaver) and Bernie Davis.

Larry graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1965 and went to college in Boston where he worked on the first computer for IBM.

He then entered the workforce and retired from NYCDEP where he also was the president of his Union for many years.

Larry was a volunteer firefighter for more than 30 years with the Arkville Fire Department.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Jill Jamrozy (Junior), Beth Teuber (Stanley),and Lindsey Davis; and sons, Gerard DeBari (Corine), and Arthur DeBari (Charlene). He left five grandchildren who adored him, Kieryn Salewski, Bailee Herrel, Ali Jamrozy, Braxton McGruder and Shawn Teuber.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Bernie and Bessie Davis; and son, Lawrence DeBari III.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Oct. 14, at Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arkville Fire Department in his name.
