West Davenport, NY - WEST DAVENPORT - Lena Barnes, a devoted member of the West Davenport community, passed away peacefully Aug. 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and service. She was 91.

Born Sept. 1, 1933 in Worcester, Lena was a faithful member of West Davenport Methodist Church, where she found fellowship, strength, and purpose throughout her life.

Lena found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid gardener, especially proud of her flowers and vegetables, and took delight in eating fresh vegetables from her garden. A talented cook and baker, she was well known among family and friends for her warmth, hospitality, and the meals she lovingly prepared.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, David and Debra Barnes of Franklin, and Larry Barnes and his companion, Bonnie of Bainbridge. She was a proud grandmother to Jessie and Maja Barnes, Missouri, Jeremy Barnes, Franklin, Jennifer Ross, West Davenport, and Jody Barnes and his friend, Heather, West Laurens. Her great-grandchildren include, Jameson Barnes, Natalie Barnes, Penelope Barnes, Missouri, Tyler Barnes, Florida, Zachary Ross, Aiden Ross, West Davenport, Bella Barnes, West Oneonta, and Scarlett Barnes, Franklin. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Brower.

Lena was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack Barnes; and parents, Elizabeth and Raymond Crandall.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. Preceding the service, friends are invited to greet the family from noon to 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Charlotte Valley Cemetery, West Davenport.

Memorial contributions in Lena's honor may be made to the West Davenport Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the care of Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.
