CHERRY VALLEY - Leon Edwin Black, 65, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.

Born Dec. 7, 1952 in Oneonta, he was the son of the late Arnold J. and Elfriede (Schulte) Black.

Over the course of his life, he worked many jobs, first for the Otsego County Forestry. He did factory work for Interknitting. He was a farmer, car dealer, mechanic, and his final employment was at Tops in Cooperstown as a stock clerk and manager on duty.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; two sons, David J. Black (and wife, Lee) and Eric S. Black (and wife, Becky); a daughter, Corenne L. Black (and husband, Spencer Morrissey); and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Black, Kent Black, Lucas Black and Poppy Black.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
