Leonard William Marsh (Swamp) Obituary

Manlius, NY - Leonard W. "Swamp" Marsh

March 7, 2026

Leonard W. "Swamp" Marsh, 80, of Manlius, passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Known for his warm smile, sense of humor, and easygoing nature, Swamp formed lasting friendships wherever he went and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Born in Ramsey, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Harold and Ann Marsh.

Swamp graduated from Worcester High School in 1963 and went on to attend Niagara University, where he graduated in 1967 with a degree in accounting.

He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Rogers & Patterson in Oneonta, New York. In 1972, he joined Medical Coaches, Inc., where he spent more than four decades in leadership roles, ultimately serving as CEO, before retiring on December 31, 2017.

Swamp was deeply involved in his community. He served for many years with the Otsego County Industrial Development Agency (IDA), including as a member of its Board of Directors, helping support economic development projects and local businesses throughout the region. He was also a member of the Oneonta Kiwanis Club and supported several community organizations over the years, including Friends of Bassett and local snowmobile clubs.

Above all else, Swamp's greatest pride was his family. He loved spending time with his children and cherished every moment with his grandchildren. With his warm smile and easygoing nature, he had a special way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. His family and friends will remember him for his kindness, his humor, and the many memories shared.

In his free time, Swamp loved being outdoors. Whether riding his Harley, spending time at camp, fishing, or enjoying the woods of the Adirondacks, he found peace and happiness in nature.

He is survived by his daughter, Kerri McKee; his sons, Travis Marsh and Shane (Megan) Marsh; his sister, Lorrain Wolverton; and his cherished grandchildren, Jack and Max McKee, and Eli, Addison, and Collins Marsh. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joan Wrissmeyer; and his brothers, Ronald and Joe Marsh.

Swamp leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a deep love for family, friends, and the outdoors—memories that will be cherished by those who knew him for years to come.

Calling hours will be from 4-6PM on Monday, March 16 at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road, Manlius. A celebration of life will follow at the funeral home, beginning at 6:00PM.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
