Linda P. Morehouse Obituary
GARRATTSVILLE - Linda Morehouse, 77, of Garrattsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Linda was born on March 10, 1946, in New Berlin, daughter of the late M. Robert and Ruth (Brierley) Porter.
Linda was employed as a nurse at Dr. Sweet's office in Oneonta for many years where she gave allergy shots. She was a very kind, compassionate, and giving person, volunteering at FoxCare in her free time.
Linda was also musically gifted. In addition to playing piano at weddings, she gave piano lessons to many children and adults, which brought her great joy. She was the organist at Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta for a period of time. She also was director of the junior choir at Morris United Methodist Church and was a member of the adult choir.
After Linda and Dan retired, they enjoyed many trips with their 5th wheel travel trailer, visiting Florida, their daughter and son in the South, and even making it as far west as Texas.
While they always enjoyed their trips, they especially loved coming home to the beautiful Butternut Valley. Linda cherished time with her cats and dogs. She also loved to sit on her deck and soak in the warm sun on a cool day, talk and laugh with friends and family, or sit quietly and read a book. She was always willing to lend a listening ear and looked for humor in every situation. She had a warmth that was described by one of her grandchildren as, "You always make me feel so warm and cozy, just like I am sitting next to a warm fire." She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Daniel; children, daughters, Susan (Patrick) Collard of Piedmont, South Carolina and Melanie (Jim) Benjamin of New Lisbon; son, John (Renee) Morehouse of Alpharetta, Georgia; sisters, Pamela Boyer and Barbara (Carl) Berdzinski; grandchildren, Trevor and Samantha Collard, Joshua (J.J.) Benjamin and Kate Morehouse; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son, Robert
Morehouse.
