MANLIUS - Marcy Smith, 67, passed away May 6, 2024, after a brief illness. Marcy was embraced with love from her family and friends over the last few weeks, and was comforted by the warmth that she valued very deeply for her whole life.

Survived by immediate and extended family members, Marcy's absence is felt profoundly by all.

Marcy was born in Syracuse, returning there after high school for college and remaining there for more than 50 years.

Marcy lived her life with determination and had a very successful career as a human resource manager and business partner spanning several large companies, most recently retiring from the Raymond Corporation in November of 2022. She gathered friends from all her places of work and cherished those relationships for years.

Marcy had an instinctive and intuitive nature for all the roles in her life; daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend. She was attentive to people's wants and needs and always picked "just the right thing" when gift-giving. Central to her nature was a fondness she had for animals, particularly her many cats over the years.

Her interest in family ancestry grew over the years. She was particularly fond of historical research and family heirlooms.

A confident and capable person, Marcy still investigated many other potential life influences; healing practices, tarot, stones and crystals and the like.

She believed strongly in a thin veil between life and death and fully expected that her father (and maternal grandmother) would arrive to pick her up. We believe they did.

A celebration of her life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 17, at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road, Manlius.

A private burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
