Marilyn C. Davis Obituary

EDMESTON - Marilyn C. Davis, 85, of Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Edmeston, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021.

Marilyn worked alongside her husband for more than 30 years on their dairy farm. The farm was her life and passion, albeit not always fun or glamorous. Among so many things, she took care of milking the cows and raking hay in the fields.

Following the death of her husband, she worked several years at a regional bank in Edmeston. After moving to Ohio, she worked 17 years as a hostess for the Hammel House Inn restaurant in Waynesville, Ohio, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Loving, feisty and family-oriented, Marilyn was a genuinely caring person and was always willing to help others, especially her family who she adored.

She was a member of the Peet Hook Players theater group, which she loved. She greatly enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses; embroidery; reading; adult coloring books and rooting on the Cincinnati Reds. While the farm life took up much of her time, her free time often involved going out square dancing with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling with Lyle over the years, with an automobile trip out West and a trip to Hawaii being her favorites. She admired and collected items involving Northern Cardinal birds. Among many things, she will be remembered for being a loving mother and grandmother, and for her delicious cinnamon rolls and chicken and biscuits, the latter becoming a Christmas tradition of hers over the years. In addition, Marilyn loved her cat, Fluffy, for so many years and Fluffy provided her so much company, day in and day out.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Lyle, in 1986 and parents, Claude and Mary Van Warner.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Cindy) Davis and Thomas Davis (Debbie Hay); two grandchildren, Jeffrey Davis and Jennifer (Greg) Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Davis and Embry; and her sister, Shirley Emhof.

Private family services will be held at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville, Ohio.

A small graveside service will be held in Union Cemetery in Edmeston, in the future.

If desired, contributions may be made to the Edmeston Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 41, Edmeston, NY 13335.
