Marion W.  Van Etten
WESTFORD - Marion W. Van Etten, 96, passed away on Dec. 4, 2019, at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born on May 19, 1923, in Westford, daughter of H. Thomas and Georgia (Roseboom) Williams.
Marion graduated from Andrew S. Draper and Albany Business School.
She married Clarence R. Van Etten on June 24, 1942, at Schenevus United Methodist Church.
Marion was secretary to Circuit Court Judge Campbell during Clancy's military service with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in France and Germany during World War II.
Upon Clancy's discharge, they moved to Rome, New York, where she worked at Revere Copper and Brass Corporation as an executive secretary.
Upon her and Clancy's retirement in 1970, they moved to 'Clancy's Fancy Farm' in Westford. Marion then worked part-time for Jay Hulbert Insurance Company in Schenevus, as she wasn't quite ready for complete retirement.
Marion was a longtime member of Westford United Methodist Church, where she was the organist for many years and until recently, the substitute organist.
She enjoyed being outdoors with her grandchildren, baking pies and cookies and hosting many family gatherings. She called her family "the tribe," which was most important to her throughout her long life.
Marion is survived by her children, June Ann and David Bedell of Palm Bay, Florida and United States Air Force retired Lt. Col. Thomas R. and Lee Van Etten of Greensboro, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Camey (Roy) Sears, Scott Bedell, Andrea (Brad) Sweet, Kelly (Thomas) Holmes, Michael (Christi) Van Etten, Timothy Van Etten, Jennifer Amering and Eric Van Etten; five great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Brunschmid of New Berlin, sisters-in-law, Patricia (Van Etten) Hunziker of Delmar, June Van Etten of Dallas, Pennsylvania and Cynthia Van Etten of Hamburg, New York; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; her siblings, George "Bud" Williams, June Ritton, Thomas Williams and Benjamin Williams.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Westford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Judith Thistle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Westford United Methodist Church.
Spring interment will take place in Westford Cemetery at a date and time to be determined.
