ANDES - Martin Thomas Liddle, 75, of Andes, passed away on Thursday Dec. 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Martin was born Aug. 27, 1949 in Margaretville, the son of the late Donald and Marga Liddle.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, completing two honorable terms.
Upon return home, Martin worked for Ballentine Construction in Andes.
In partnership with his beloved wife, Peggy, whom he was married to for 50 wonderful years, they decided to take over the family farm on the Tremperskill. Together they made a lifetime of memories and cherished moments filled with laughter and joy.
Martin was also a very dedicated member to the Andes Town Board, which he served for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Liddle; son, Martin (Kate) Liddle, daughter, Cassie Liddle; brothers, Donald (Vera) Liddle, Richard (Jenny) Liddle and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin Liddle, and Kylie and Klara Whittaker.
Martin was predeceased by his parents, his son, Matthew James Liddle and brother, Douglas Liddle.
Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday Dec. 15, at Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested in Martin's memory, any donations be made to the Andes Rescue/EMS or Helios Care.
